As communication networks and the internet have become an essential part of everyday life for people and companies, we are living in an era of technological interdependence. From smartphones to TVs, from cars to household appliances, practically everything is connected. This revolution has brought enormous facilities and positive transformations, such as the automation of tasks, access to online banking services, digital shopping and the integration of smart devices into everyday life. However, with these advances have also come digital security challenges: the same networks that make our lives easier have become fertile ground for malicious actions.
Cybercriminals take advantage of the vulnerabilities of these interconnections to exploit companies and individuals, exacerbating digital security challenges and seeking to gain illegal advantages. Today, the digital risks are as present as the benefits. Technological evolution, while speeding up processes, opens up loopholes that can be exploited in devastating ways. This puts cybersecurity at the center of IT discussions, requiring increasingly robust measures to deal with these threats.
Among the many advantages of connectivity is the convenience of scheduling appointments remotely, carrying out financial transactions without having to queue and locating goods easily. All of this is a direct result of digitalization. However, the risks are not just restricted to individuals, but also affect valuable digital assets. A classic example is e-commerce services, which are exposed to denial of service (DDoS) attacks. In these attacks, criminals flood the system with fake requests, overloading it and preventing legitimate users from making purchases.
In addition, people who use banking applications on their smartphones face the risk of having their devices contaminated by malware. These harmful programs can be used to spy on or even remotely control cell phones, putting personal and financial information at risk, as reported in Symantec Mobile Threat Defense.
Measures for the challenges of digital security
Faced with this scenario, companies and individuals have increasingly invested in cyber security in order to mitigate the digital security challenges caused by digital interconnection.Faced with this scenario, companies and individuals have increasingly invested in cyber security in order to mitigate the risks brought about by digital interconnection. Growing dependence on technology amplifies the consequences of cyber attacks, which can result in financial losses, disruption of essential services and even threats to national security. Critical infrastructures such as power grids, transportation systems and hospitals are frequent targets of cyberattacks, with potentially catastrophic consequences.
These digital assets, which guarantee the functioning of essential services for society, are under constant threat from financially motivated hackers, digital activists and even actors sponsored by foreign states. In Brazil, as in other countries, attacks on energy operations, water distribution and public transportation have been monitored and combated with advanced technologies, such as those offered by Huge Networks, a company that has excelled in combating these threats with cutting-edge solutions.
The increase in DDoS attacks
In recent years, one of the most common types of attack has been denial of service, which overloads systems with a massive volume of false requests. Recent reports, such as theHuge Report of September 2024, show that these attacks are becoming increasingly frequent and voluminous. The report reveals that the number of “anomalies” – as the attacks are called – more than doubled from August to September, jumping from 97,947 to 253,782. The largest offensives exceeded the 300 Gbps mark, reflecting both the seriousness of the threats and Huge Networks’ ability to defend itself.
On the other hand, this data also demonstrates the effectiveness of Huge Networks’ protection measures, which rely on a robust and constantly evolving technological infrastructure to protect its customers. This defense is based on three fundamental pillars: a high-capacity network, efficient cloud operation and protection at multiple network layers, ensuring that services remain operational even under attack.
Essential resources for the client
In terms of network capacity, Huge Networks guarantees bandwidth capable of supporting both the normal operating demands of its customers and massive volumes of malicious traffic. Cloud operation also offers low latency, flexibility and ease of global connection, all of which are indispensable for modern digital security. In addition, intelligent filtering of incoming traffic identifies and blocks malicious requests, separating them from legitimate requests in a continuous and refined manner.
Although many companies offer cyber security solutions, few have mastered all the aspects needed to guarantee truly effective protection. Huge Networks, with its investments in proprietary technology, is at the forefront of this defense, providing its customers with security that far exceeds market standards.
In an increasingly connected world, cybersecurity is no longer an option but a vital necessity. Threats are constantly evolving, but so are technological solutions. Huge Networks, with its state-of-the-art infrastructure and expertise in cybersecurity, has excelled in defending companies and individuals against increasingly sophisticated attacks. To continue navigating safely in this digital environment, it is essential to adopt the best security practices and rely on reliable partners who are always ahead of the threats.
